How people work together now is different, due to the "permission" to "be equal" and "work at the same level as management", that was instilled by this process of creating strategy together.
ASKING MORE QUESTIONS
This new way of working where all parties were equal, enabled some to " question everybody and everything and put forward ideas that were equal to all of the other suggestions, without fear of being overruled".
PERMISSION TO CHALLENGE MORE
This "permission to challenge" is not viewed negatively. It has been taken further into day to day work and has led to issues being explored in much greater depth, before a decision is reached..(this)" has "filtered down into our service behaviours.. now everyone questions(s) decisions and keeps going with the challenge until a real resolution is reached".
INVOLVING OTHERS MUCH MORE FULLY DURING TEAM WORKING
Another expression of this approach to sharing leadership at team level involves: " taking time at the beginning of projects to really make sure we have all the givens and conditions met.. we also recognise that there are a number of principles we can use in team meetings and conversations... such as consensual decision-making and keeping going when discussing our ideas".
MANAGING TEAM MEETINGS IN A COLLABORATIVE WAY
" Team meetings are held in a different way. Instead of being talked to and told what was going to happen etc., infomation is shared and questions/opinions are asked, in the quest to find an outcome .. both understood by all but that works.
WORKING TOGETHER AND NOT IN ISOLATION
" Work practices have evolved, where you would work on the whole in isolation, now it is about group/team working;. Sharing your practice within your team, joint problem solving"
The following shifts in working practices were also informed by development training undertaken by the group to develop their relational working, know as 7 CS.
